Business Owners should have a base knowledge working with money and the accounting process in order to have a successful business. Most of the owners I have met over the years have always been glad to let someone else take charge of the finance. I find that these people are very good business people. They know their product and love to sell and take care of their marketing and love to manage. They assume that the person that is handling the money and keeping the company records is honest and competent. The fact is that there are bookkeepers that do steal and there are many more that are unskilled. Unless you have a little bit of knowledge in accounting, an owner will not know if the accounting information is accurate or if the money is coming in the front door and/or going out the back door in someone else's pocket.
